Song fest’s grand finals to boost Ilonggo music

ILOILO City – The first Iloilo Pop Song Festival, with its grand finals set on Dec. 18 at San Enrique, Iloilo, is expected to redefine and boost Ilonggo music.

Eight catchy and heartfelt original Ilonggo songs will compete in the finals after being luckily chosen out of the 52 submitted song entries. These eight original Ilonggo songs are: “Bitoon” by Justin Andrew Perlas (Estancia, Iloilo); “Sa Imo Lang Ako” by Emman Abatayo (Leganes, Iloilo); “Nabatyagan” by Edz Callao (Bo. Obrero, Iloilo City); “Suplada” by Rocky Fuentes (Bacolod City); “Pagpalangga Mo” by Ymmanuel Demegillo (Sta. Barbara, Iloilo); “Pinalangga Ko Nga Iloilo” by Joel Lenaming (Jaro, Iloilo City); “Maayo Kay Nabal-an Ta” by Vir Brand (Dumalag, Capiz); and “Imo Nga Yuhum” by Francis Playground (Sta. Barbara, Iloilo).

The event will also debut the original song “Christmas in the City of Love” performed by various Ilonggo artists as the Christmas advocacy song for the benefit of the Aeta community in San Enrique. The inspiring advocacy is spearheaded by San Enrique mayor Ramona P. Go.

Iloilo Pop Song Festival hopes to rediscover brilliant songwriters and elevate the local music industry by revolutionizing its concept, making Ilonggo music globally competitive by fusing it with multimedia aspects.

The event is a co-produced by the local government unit of San Enrique, in partnership with RSLPhoenix Music and Kuris-AMX Multimedia, Inc.

Iloilo Pop Song Festival is co-presented by Panay News as its official media partner, The Shops at Amigo, San Enrique Agricultural College Batch 1990, KADMATSE president Josie Padernal Palu-ay, Jovie Padernal-Hammond, Music and Lyric Production, Country Side Convenience Store, KMK Marketing, Team Icon (Usana Health Sciences), G/S Sunrise Eatery, Palmares Guest House, Titans Realty and Shirley Pork Stand.
